Guinea Pigs - Cutiecavies Guinea Pig Forum :: CARE & HEALTH :: Health & illness :: Lumps & Bumps :: lump on neck Author Topic: lump on neck (Read 1,281 times) pinigig Guest lump on neck « Thread Started on Nov 25, 2008, 6:56pm » Has anybody seen a lump on the right side of a young guinea pig's neck? it's the equivalent of where a man's adam's apple is only it's to one side. I noticed it on Sunday and I took ehr to the vets today. all they could say what that he didn't KNOW what it could be and they could do a biopsy under general anaesthetic. I know that pgs don't cope very well with general so i said that i'd just keep an eye on it for now... that decision was helped by the fact that the op will cost £160! it's just a solid lump, it doesn't hurt her when you touch it, she still has full range of movement i.e. she can still clean herself properly, and it's not squidgy/feel like there's anything moveing around it in. Gig's had an abcess before so I kinda know what they feel like... Finding one would be an amazing thing!! I am not a vet but this is going on my opinion only without seeing the animal so please dont take my advise seriously without the backup from a vet . I would do the same as you and not do anything till you see how the lump grows , if it grows and because of where it is you might need to decide on doing something later . Was hoping that it was nothing to worry about, but guess I'm going to have to go to the vet. Like Pinigig's guinea, my pig is still eating and drinking fine and is only 14 weeks old...
