My guinea pig ,olga, has always had a weird little whistle when she squeaks, breathes, eats and drinks. It has always been there, even as a baby,I thought it was just a baby thing and she would grow out of it coz i know that baby pigs can develop baby whistle that they then lose as they get older. She coughs a lot, like about 7 times a day. She often chokes and will stop breathing for several seconds before gagging and then coughing and then is fine again. I wondered if she might have a hole in her throat coz she always has really bad cabbage breath even tho she doesn't eat a lot of cabbage. I wondered if she had a sort of guinea pig version of a cleft pallet? I know that sounds weird but I do know they can have similar illness or deformities as humans. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions of what it might be?

Have you ever had her checked out by a vet? That sounds pretty unusual.
Is it possible she's allergic to anything in her environment?

No she hasn't been checked coz this problem never seemed to bother her. Do you think i should? I would be able to take her but just never have done because she has always seemed happy and well in her self apart from that. She eats and drinks normally and plays fine with out problem. Those things just seem to be in the background.

To be honest, if it's not annoying her I'd be inclined to leave it. It would do her no harm to bring her but if it's not interfering with her quality of life then I wouldn't worry.
