Gabriel was peeing blood again, so I took him in. He has a bladder stone. The vet said he needs surgery to remove it. What do you guys think?

If an xray has been done and a stone is present then surgery is the only means to remove it.
Rarely do large stones pass.

One of my girlies, Annie, had bladder stone surgery and it was very successful. Her stone was HUGE and so painful that when she was anaesthetised she was still crying when the nurses were shaving her belly.
There is no alternative, unfortunately, once it becomes painful for them. It's always scary to consider surgery but the alternative is to leave them in pain.
What I will say is that it's a fairly delicate surgery since piggy bladders are so small, so perhaps ask your vet what experience he has doing this surgery or other guinea pig surgery. That should put your mind at ease.

Sorry I didn't respond earlier. I just got to a computer with internet (this site doesn't work on my phone). Gabriel had the surgery but they couldn't get it out because it was in his ureter. The vet said it would have destroyed his uteter to get the bladder stone out. We just have to hope he pees it out. I really hope he does. He's eating and drinking fine. He has pain meds and antibiotics.
