I put a package of muffin mix on the scale (bag says 900g) in fact it weighed 946g I'd say the 900g is excluding the packaging, so don't worry about that! Going from your posts they were together for roughly the last two weeks in October, which would put arrival dates from the end of December to the middle of January, depending on when they were caught. You'll know your dates better, but the window is around from 10 weeks from the first day they were together to 10 weeks from the last day they were together, plus a few days for sows who like to keep us waiting.

I've been trying to get pics of them from above to show the pear shape but silly iphone doesn't focus very well... Cookie is getting rather large lately, Caramel isn't that far behind from what I can tell. I feel so bad when I have to go and get them to weigh them, they definitely aren't used to so much handling, when we had the cat, we only would handle them at cage cleaning time as it was very hard to keep the cat from being disinterested (is that a word?) now that he isn't around, we still need to watch Lucy our dog from getting too interested. I've been cuddling with them when I have time, especially after weighing them, to give them some cuddles and scratches, which Caramel loves under the chin! And now that they're in pig, I really am not sure I should be handling them so much as to add more stress??

If you suspect they are in pig and they arent comfortable being handled then i would leave them be. Stop weighing them too, just keep a close eye on them, talk to them, and pet them (chin tickles etc) How long have you had them now?
Best of luck and keep us posted

I had some lap time with both Cookie and Caramel tonight...they actually let me pick them up today without running away...fed them dandelion leaves and they were loving it. I felt the pups moving! It was an amazing feeling, but as mentioned I won't be picking them up other than during cage cleaning anymore as they have progressed enough that I don't want them to have any stress or discomfort. I've had these two since early February, they just turned 1 this month. Caramel's pups seem more active then Cookie's...but that may be because 1) she is further along or 2) she may have more in there??

I took the girls out for a nail trim as we noticed they were getting a bit long...they were very easy to get to but getting quite big, heard some popping noises coming from Caramel's tummy? They are eating everything up too! I've been giving them quite a lot more than normal and they even wheek for more a few hours later, if we walk by the cage (especially if my oldest son does as he's been known to feed them sometimes...he loves that they recognize him!) I don't feed them more than twice a day to keep to the same schedule but have been topping off the hay more often too. Noticed that they are lying around more, I had thought Cookie was in labour yesterday as she kept ducking down there but nothing...I also weighed Caramel without the bowl, she was a good girl and just sat on the scale...she is now 1265 grams! I've told my older two kids to keep a watch out as they are home this week for the holidays still and to give me a call if they notice anything unusual...crossing fingers we may have New Year's babies??? Here is Cookie as of today weighing 1325 grams!

Wow, she's huge! The popping noises are probably the babies grinding their teeth and moving around. It's so exciting!

so, nothing yet...sigh, the anticipation is getting to me...every morning first thing I check in on them and nothing of course as soon as I do that I have to feed them! the wheeking gets quite loud as they know it's breakfast time! maybe with this blizzard we're getting here, I'll be home for the deliveries? I am thinking they are due very close to each other so may have them on the same day or very close, eh?

OMG!! OMG!!! Caramel had her babies through the night! When I went to get their bowls for breakfast, there they were...all 4 of them in the litter box with mommy!! Was wondering why the wheeking seemed louder than usual...heehee...they are beautiful! I've taken a few pics but have no idea of the genders (can you tell this soon?) also will weigh them when I get home from work tonight...so here are the best pics I could get quickly in this morning: bottom corner is mom Caramel in above pic. My apologies on the messy cage but Saturdays are cage cleaning and I didn't get a chance to spot clean yesterday (was my youngest's 6th birthday, which he is excited to share with these 4)

Okay, I just need to write this down...I am sooooo excited to go home today to these babies!! Hope they are all doing well...sort of was thinking it might have been better if I took the day off but how would I explain that to work?? I am worried as the coroplast may not be high enough to keep them in the cage as well I have two grids with each loft that are used as support and the little cuties were able to squeeze through them this morning, am afraid of them getting stuck and hurting themselves, how do I baby-proof that? The little adventurous one that you can see in the last pic already went up the ramp all by itself this morning! I am a very proud mama here and only want the best for them!

They're gorgeous, congratulations!
Do you have any spare grids? If so you could cable-tie them on the outside but off-set by about half an inch so that the holes are half the size, if you know what I mean. Otherwise, if you have spare coroplast you could tie that around the outside just until they get a little bigger.

So, we're at day 6 and the babies have now started eating veggies!! it is too cute to watch them around the bowl with the adult piggies...the size difference is definitely more noticeable then and they've started popcorning!! they are way too cute for their own good!! I was thinking about rehoming two sows but I don't know if I'll be able to part with any at this stage!! And Cookie hasn't even had hers yet...Oh my...I'm going to need a bigger cage!! hahahaha...

That's fab! They're so cute at that stage (well, always, but you know what I mean!) Are they doing the piggy train where they follow mammy around?

Cookie had her babies yesterday morning!! And, so shocked to have discovered only 3 came out of her! She looked so big, I was so worried that she was going to have a huge litter, but she did great, both mommy and babies are doing really well! I'll have to post pics later (even though I've been posting them on the facebook group page) 2 are crested too! I've never had any before...all three look to be sows but as they are still quite young, I'll check again in a few days to make sure...is it easier to tell when they're older than a week? So, we now have 7 babies! GP total count - 2 boars, 10 sows? I was thinking of putting Gizmo (the only baby boar) with his daddy, Gibson, but what if they don't get along? What do I do then? I know I need to introduce them on neutral ground, make sure the cage they're put in is completely cleaned, fresh fleece, etc...just worried, have just under 2 weeks before I have to separate from mommy (3 weeks is when that has to happen correct?) Gizmo is such a ham too! he's popcorning, wheeking, zooming around like crazy...hope Gibson attempts to him well enough...

Oh your pups are so beautiful. I love that red and white pup in the Caramel's litter. (S)He'd be named apatchi with that white streak on his/her face LOL.
Can't wait to see Cookies pups and how fantastic you got Crested pups.

They are SO cute! The guinea pig I had as a little girl was pregnant when we got her. We had no idea... just thought she was fat, until the babies came.

1st pic is when just born, second is the best I could do, looks like the sun was shining on the cage so they are cast in shadow, I'll try to get better pics this weekend! Can't believe Caramel's babies are already 2 weeks old! I've been trying to see if I was right in the sexing but it so hard to really tell...I'm second guessing myself especially since I just saw Cinnamon (who I think is a sow) trying to mount her sibling?? at two weeks old, do they already display dominance?

Cute! Are some of them crested?
Yeah, they can start mounting etc from very early. They're just learning.

Orlaith - 2 are crested!! My first ones...they are too cute for words, it looks like they're both sows too! in the pic it's the middle and right one, we've named them Calypso and Cashew! The one on the right is a boar and he's Gustaf (Gus for short) I took another look at Cinnamon's parts and still may think she's a he?? When can you tell for certain? It's really hard to get a pic of it, I am going to try to get my oldest to help me but he isn't too keen on taking pictures of their "private parts" (he's only 11)...

Thank you! I've taken a closer look after looking at some pics featured on guinea lynx and you are right, it was boy, boy, girl, boy and here I had originally thought it was 3 girls and 1 boy! We've renamed them, so Abby is now Gabby (Gabe), Cinnamon is now Garfield. I am hoping I've done okay with Cookie's offspring, I believe she had 2 girls and 1 boy as he seems to be a fiesty one, at not even two weeks old and already rumblestrutting around!! it is too darn cute!! It is hard to get decent pics of them, will keep trying to check to make sure.

I have decided to try and find homes for two of the boys from Caramel's litter...currently they along with the other boy are housed with dad in a 2x6 and all are getting along quite well but am thinking once they hit puberty, things could get ugly and I don't think it's enough room for 4 boars...so, since my daughter has become attached to Gabby, he's staying but the other two - Gizmo and Garfield am trying to find their forever homes. Asking $30 for both to go together as this will help with getting veggies and hay for the rest of the herd. So if anyone knows of anyone in Southwestern Ontario Canada who is looking for some adorable baby boy guinea pigs...let them know.

Today is Feb 14th and Cocoa is still in pig...?? WT? Is it possible that she didn't conceive until the very last day with Gibson? She's getting quite large...I hope she has a safe delivery.

UPdate: Cocoa had her pups on Friday February 21st, 4 beauties! Right now I'm thinking it's 3 sows and 1 boar? Not really good at this yet, am checking whenever I can to see if there's any change...we've named them: Cappy, Cinnamon, Cecilia, and Gretzky, they will be 2 weeks this Friday and are growing! Charlie suprised us though, she ended up having her litter on Monday February 24th! Came home to 4 more beautiful pups! they did seem rather small but as of today, they are doing great! 2 boars, 2 sows (again, may change) - Goober, Gandalf, Cupid, and Cutie pie. Don't have pics set up on the computer as yet, will try to post some tomorrow...I do have them posted on the facebook page of cutiecavies though. I'm going to try some new veggies for them tonight, picked up some parsnips, zuchini squash, bean sprouts, savoy cabbage, and asparagus...as the babies are now eating veggies too.
