The update on Lottie isn't good.
Howie, bless him, hasn't done the trick. Lottie still won't eat properly.
She's making a "clicking" noise & her breathing was really fast. I took her to the vets today, he was a nice enough chap but did say his knowledge of g.p.'s was limited.
He gave her an antibiotic injection (suspecting pneumonia) & said to see his colleague tomorrow. I have an app with her at 2.30.
She's had 40ml of pellet mash tonight & is downstairs in a pigloo by herself. Poor Howie was looking for her but i've left her where she wanted to be. She can go up the ramp if she wants to be near him, unfortunately he hasn't mastered it yet.
Will let you know what happens

It does sound like she is displaying the symptons of a chest infection of some sort - lets hope the anitbiotics sorts her out.

So sorry to hear about Lottie. You got her to the vet as soon as you realised something was wrong and did everything you could for her.
Sadly respiratory infections in small animals are nearly always a symptom of something more serious going on.

Sorry Nicki to here about poor Lottie. Keep your chin up. Hope this helps!!! A Simple Message From Your Pet by Ken D. Conover
To have loved and then said farewell is better than to have never loved at all. For all of the times that you stooped and touched my head, fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you. For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly. For all of these things I am grateful and thankful. I ask that you grieve not for the loss but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each other's lives. My life was fuller because you were there, not as owner, but as my friend. Today, I am as I was in my youth. The grass is always green, butterflies flit among fthe flowers and the sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures. I can run, jump and play and do all of the things that I did in my youth. There is no sickness, no aching joints and no regrets and no aging. We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever. You live in our hearts as we do in yours. Companions such as you are very rare and unique. Don't hold the love that you have within yourself. Give it to another like me and then I will live forever. For love never really dies, and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.
Your pet in heaven.

Thank you Dawn & Rach. Poor Howie is in his pigloo, all sad. I really feel for him & have been debating on wether or not to give him back to the shelter or get him a baby sow of his own. He's already had 3 partners & all have died He's 3 now & i do wonder why, out of the 4 boys the lady handed into the shelter, why he was the last one Niki x

As I've said in my email Niki, I'd get Howie a new sow as there's a chance he could stay in rescue for much longer if you hand him back. You like him and in no way would they be a replacement for Lottie but hopefully they'd put a smile on your face to know you've made Howie a happy boar

He's touched my heart already, he was so lovely with Lottie & maybe he knew she was ill, i don't know. I'm going to town today for my chest clinic app. I think i'll have a look in the petshop i got Huxley & Hamish from. I would go to the rescue, but they only had boar pairings & neutered boar/sow pairings. They neuter all boars to pair with sows. Will let you know what happens Niki x

Niki... I am glad you got a little friend for Howie and look forward to seeing her soon... And I think Lottie would have wanted you to give Howie a little friend.... I know its not a replacement... as there could only be one Lottie.... but knowing you've made Howie such a happy little guy must be magical.......
