Hi everyone....Could somebody give me some advice? One of my cavies, Dale, who is 11mths old now, seems to drink LOADS of water..he drinks half a bottle of water per day. I add a quarter of a tab of Rubicon ( Vit C ) to his water daily. he is a HUGE fellow, who is otherwise VERY greedy and very happy. he seems very well, and is very, very playful...He passes a lot of urine, but as far as i can see, there are no probs there...Any ideas, or anything I should worry about? His diet is excellent..he eats a good cavy grain mix, and gets a good mix of fruit n veg....Thks !! Irene.
Dawn..he seems to be drinking more water, since i started adding the vit c, about 3mths ago...It is orange flavoured, so mayb it is sweet, and thats why...he is a huge piggy...TWICE the size of Charlie, who i've been told is quite a small boar..The rubicon vit c , makes up an orange sweet drink, so mayb i should switch to the sugar-free option...Will ask our vet 2 check him over....By the way, there is a bbrill vet in Bray, Co.Wicklow, who is an exotic pet and avian specialist....Her name is Bairbre O'Malley, n if u type in her name on internet, she has several websites...
Hi again everyone....had Dale at the vet for a check-up on Thurs....he feels that Dale is just a BIG boar, but he seems to be healthy otherwise...I have changed his and Charlie's Vit C, to the sugar-free option, so we'll see what happens....
Enneagon: But I have to agree with Candyguts - this one is sort of active but not very... it's kind of weird. My budgie one is more active than this one. So let's make it more active!

frnzr4evr: When you think you have found a private loving home (ie. you haven't got a rescue foster centre nearby), be sure to interview them carefully to make sure they understand the expertise cavies need vs. other rodents, and that they aren't reptile owners
