It may seem like a silly question but I have never seen a newborn guinea pig and trying to 'baby proof' the cage, I need to know what size the newborns will be?

I don't specifically know about newborn ones, but my 7 week old Pedro could get through the squares of the c & c cage. I just made the coroplast much higher.

Pups are usually around 2inchs or a little larger or of course a little smaller. They can easily fit through cage bars in a c&c cage for the first 6 weeks odd. They should weigh in between 60 - 110 grams.

So if the base of the cage is high, I shouldnt have to worry about them getting out or are they good climbers?

Nope you should be just fine aslong as you block it with something. Dont put hideys ect near the edges either incase you get "houdini" pigs i call them.

hmm.... maybe to be on the safe side I will put something up... Hideys are always being moved. Clover likes to go in her hide and run it's the funniest looking thing!
