a pregnant guinea pig dies 1 day before she's due to deliver?? Do they die too? Or can you take the piggy to the vet to cut the babies out? Or could you take the babies out? I know this is a bizarre question, but it just popped into my head today. I was thinking it'd be horrible if the babies were ready to go and they died b/c the mom did. There would have to be some way to save the babies. Right??? :/

Hmm I'm not sure, we had a similar situation at the vet office the other day where I was sitting behind the front desk and a women burst in positively screaming because her rabbit was dying in labour, the vet was able to cut the babies out and save the mommy so I guess it depends on how quick you can get her o the vet........after ten twenty minutes if the babies arent removed though they probably won't make it

If the sow dies and you are at the vets then the pups can be saved, however if you wait id say even an hour the pups would suffocate. They breathe and survive through their mum. So if she dies and they arent removed then they too will die.

Um.... actually i think I THINK they would be fine for like couple mins in there mums belly when she died, but you have to get them to the vet as quick as you can... they would suffocate. Then if you got them in time, i think they would be fine. hope this helps, lra123
