Yep, she's home about an hour now.
She's VERY sore, and very unsteady on her feet, but she has snuggled down for a sleep. I'm a little worried about her, I guess I thought she'd be a bit brighter, but she has just had major surgery. Here's hoping the next 24 hours go well.

Me too! She was a little cold, so I've wrapped a hot water bottle in a towel, put her in her bed on top of that and then put a towel loosely over the top of her. It seems to have made her more comfortable anyway. I got the stone and took it home so I could show you guys. You will not believe the size of it! It's a full centimetre long and almost a centimetre thick! If we had this in our bladders we'd be in severe pain, so imagine how sore Annie must have been! Apparently when she was anaesthetised and the nurses were washing her belly to clean and shave her, she was still crying in pain when they pressed the area, even though she was unconscious. That just goes to show how bad it must have been. My poor lady. I'm glad I went through with it now. Here's the stone. A little piece broke off, so it was actually a little bigger than this!

She's very sore. You can tell by how stiff she is moving. But she was out munching hay when I woke up this morning and she tucked into her morning veggies no problem. There's a bit of blood in her urine but the vet said that's normal and it'll take about a week for that to fully go. I'm feeling much better now that she had made it through the night. Fingers crossed she continues to improve

Oh ouch! I'd say that was sore.
I wouldn't say Annie is doing better that Junior, it's just that our vet is a firm believer that guinea pigs recover better in the company of their friends. It's rare he would keep one overnight. I was a bit frightened by her last night, I have to be honest. I wasn't sure she was going to make it through, and I was wishing a little that they had kept her, but this morning she seems a good bit better.
Junior is lucky you did the op - I read that bladder stones can be a lot more dangerous in males as they have a narrower urethra than sows, and the stones can even get lodged in the penis! OWWWW!

The vet says the stone was in the middle of his bladder not near the urethra so yes he was lucky thank god it never moved.

Hey everyone.
Annie had her post-operation check-up yesterday and the vet is delighted with her progress. He says her wound is nice and clean and there's no sign of infection. Yay!

He's so handsome! I love his crest Oh, also, Annie is now able to tuck her head under to eat her own poop again! She was having to poop it out and then turn around and eat it, but now she's well enough to do it nice and neatly, like a good piggy should. Her wound is healing up really well, still nice and clean looking. She's got a really soft stubble on her belly too where her fur is growing back, it's really cute! Plus you can see how she has little flecks of darker pigmentation in a few patches
