OMG! I am freaking out! I found a lump under Sookie's chin! I noticed her hair looked a little fluffy there a couple of days ago but couldn't feel anything but then today I felt a definite lump! She's been eating and drinking fine hasn't lost any weight we're taking her to the vet tomorrow I am so scared!

Try not to worry too much. Some lumps really are nothing, just little fatty deposits. Some can be little cysts or abscesses that need to be removed surgically. One of our pigs had a lump on her neck that was in too risky a place to operate and a course of antibiotics shrank it right down. Before Christmas Mabel had a lump the size of a mandarin orange (!!!) removed from her neck. And she did just fine It recurred and we caught it when it was about the size of a big pea the second time, and the vet lanced it without knocking her out that time while I held her. And since then she has been great, not a bother at all. So don't worry! Your vet will be able to tell you whether it's an abscess and needs to be lanced or whether it's just a fatty lump and can be left alone. Good luck!

I'm sure most of you know from Facebook but just in case...It turned out to be an abscess and they aspirated it and gave us antibiotics and Sookie is doing just fine!

Well, now I think Pinky has the same abscess Sookie did! I noticed her fur was a little fluffed up in that area and that's how I first noticed Sookie's. I'm going to have to catch her and check it out in the morning.

I just wanted to let anyone who might be following this post to know that I have checked Pinky several times and she does not have a lump or abscess. I guess it was just the way her fur was fluffed up and I might have been a little paranoid but it's better to be safe than sorry, right?

Definitely! They can be the cause of such worry! But that just means we love them
