Hello everyone..my name is Karen and i'm new to this wonderful site. I have 2 male guinea pigs called Starsky and Hutch both just over 4yrs old and are brothers. One of them recently started to squeak more but not in the same way so i started to monitor him, he seems to strain when toileting so i thought he was probably constipated..he has plenty of fresh vegetables..water and hay so i decided to visit the vets just to enquire..they recommemded 'Protexin' which gives them added fibre..it seemed to work then he has gone back to squeaking etc slightly more i think..worried and need anyones help etc before i take him to the vets.
Thanks Karen

It does indeed sound like the poor guy is constipated or impacted. A vets visit would be advised. Also have a read of the following link, its a great site and may be able to help you with your boar. www.guinealynx.info/impaction.html

Hi Karen, welcome to the site! I do not have any suggestions about the poos, but I hope your little guy is ok.

Took Starsky to the vets today and it turns out he has cystitis and not constispated as i thought..the vet has prescribed him with Baytril so fingers crossed it won't be long before he is better!
