Hi.
I cleaned my guinea pigs out yesterday. never noticed anything of concern. Today i opened sleeping half to add some more hay to find sawdust that looks blood stained. I then checked rest of the cage to find odd bit of coloured sawdust around. Something that looked like chicken covered in blood? That confuses me the most right now. Ive checked both pigs, all looks fine.
Only thing ive noticed on 1 of my pigs is, she is alot bigger! She is alot heavier around her stomach. I only put them back outdoors 2 weeks ago as the weather is alot milder now, she certainly wasnt that large or heavy (Just make this clear i have seen/fed them etc since!) Only today ive noticed such a huge change. She looks like shes bloated.
Any ideas welcome, i will be taking 1 of them to the vets when i find out for sure which one it is.
Thanks

Just to clarify both pigs are sows? and you have had them more than 6 months?
It could be a urine infection but stained shavings can also be a normal thing. Much like pee staining the shavings. I sometimes get this usually when i get my shavings some certain suppliers.
It would be best to take both sows to the vets togeather to ensure neithe gets stressed. That way the vet can check both of them out. They dont usually charge for both pigs.
I often take my piggies to the vets in pairs even if its just one pig getting seen too. It keeps the pig calm.
