So I went to the vets today and booked him in, 11th october! I feel dead guilty but I know he will be happy with his girlfriend in the long run! I trust the vet with him! He has been our vet for a couple of years and he helped us A LOT with our diabetic cat. He gave us a lot of info and said he would be in good hands.
I hope he is okay and up until Tuesday sooty will be getting lots and lots of cuddles!
Any words of encouragement to stop my worrying would be much appreciated! Ha

It's a scary experience because it's so out of your hands, but he sounds like he's in the hands of a good and caring vet, so fingers crossed everything goes well for him.

Okay so he's gone in! Could have cried handing him over! Hopefully we will have him back by this afternoon! I will keep you all updated! I'm Sure he will be fine though! Wasn't very happy when I put him in the box this morning though! I've set him up a nice little hospital bed right next to me so I can keep a good close eye on him!
Let's hope everything goes well! I can't wait to introduce him to Soo they will both be very happy with each other me thinks :-)

Okay half 1 got the phone call he's fine! Need to go pick him up now :-) She said she's giving me painkillers for him but think I might ask for antibiotics as well just to make sure!
Sounds like all went well so that's good news! Keep fingers crossed for no problems :-)

He's home in his little hospital cage, he's very still and is lying under his hayrack, but he's got food and water nearby, he's eaten a little gave him a couple of slices of carrot to see if it will cheer him up. I have to give his painkillers with food so I'm gonna wait for a little bit longer and when hes eaten a bit more I will give him them.
Seems like he just wants to sleep at the moment but I know if it was me that's what I would want to do haha.
No antibiotics but she said if I notice anything I should bring him back in. They are a good vets and have an emergency vet as well :-) plus they aren't that far away so I know I can rely on them!
Anyway I shall keep you updated! I'm very pleased, he's much better than I expected to be honest so that must be a good thing. :-)

Thats great news. Hows Sooty doing now? Did the vets use dissolveable stitches? Aslong as you make sure he doesnt irriate at his wound and he keeps eating and doesnt jump about too much he will be right as rain soon enough.

I'm glad to hear the operation went well. It's normal that he'll be a bit sleepy and dopey after his operation. It took a day or two for my boar to come around properly from his neutering and he scared me since it didn't seem like he was eating or pooping at all, but he came around, he was just feeling sorry for himself The hospital cage is perfect, it'll help you see if he's pooping and if his wound starts oozing or anything and it's not big enough for him to run too much and hurt himself.

He's much better now, gave him some pain killers about 20mins ago and he's moving around a bit more, he's eating carrot but not many pellets at the mo, lots of hay tho :-) he's also drinking lots of water.
He's not really pooped but I think it's still sore, he did when I first brought him home but he was squealing while doing it :-( but maybe now he's had his pain killer that should help. He's peeing tho.
He's been really good with his wound actually, he's not been picking at all. And they done it with glue so I will keep checking it. But when I picked him up he seemed almost the same as when I dropped his off. He's also getting back to his friendly self as he wad purring as I stroked him so he's doing good! Thought it would be a lot worse! I'm pleasantly surprised haha

Hehe your comment about him looking the same as when you dropped him made me giggle. I was the same with my boars. Weird huh. but it will take a wee while for the testicle sack to shrivel away. (lovely image) Glad hes doing well though.

The vet said he had a lot of fatty tissue around there so it might feel and look like he's still got his testicles but he doesn't! Haha
I'm really pleased with his progress so far, he should be right as rain in no time :-)

So today sooty is like back to normal except a slight limp on his back legs but he's moving around a lot, he's not really eating his pellets but he ate a plate of veggies last night so that's good. He's purring away when I'm petting him so he's getting there! There's no blood or pus or anything coming from the wound so we are doing grrreeat :-) I will still watch him for a few more days just to be sure, but I don't think we are gonna have any problems :-)

Okay so sooty is doing fine but just a little worried, well I know it's probably nothing as he isnt showing any signs of pain etc.. But we had a few spots of blood last night, i think it's because I went to grab him and he was running around the cage trying to get away so maybe he caught himself on something, but there was some this morning a bit more than the night before but I suppose blood is better than pus, I checked it this afternoon and it seems fine and there's no blood so that must mean its fine?

Blood is ok aslong as its not alot of it. Keep an eye on the wound. It sounds like he may he torn a small hole in the glue gap. Ensure its all kept clean and it should heal ok.

He's great :-) back to his old self a cheeky monkey, wanting lots and lots of attention! Haha just about to move him back into his big cage as he's made an amazing recovery! I will continue to watch and check him but he's doing great so I'm not concerned! He's popcorning and running around so I think he will be glad of more space! Thanks for asking :-)
