Morning Im a bit late in posting this as iv been very busy with moving plans and the upcoming show in saturday. I had paired Truffle up about the 17th November, she obviously didnt take until her 2nd or 3rd season with the boar, but she is finally inpig and showing well. I guesstimate she has 2-3 weeks to go. Im hoping she holds off until we have moved home (16th) so in the mean time im keeping everything as normal as possible for her. She will be moving into an indoor cage as the rest of my caviary are going into temp c&c cages which are not suitable for a pups. Fingers crossed for her as this is her first litter and im hoping to keep stress to a minimum with moving. Ill keep you all posted Heres a quick snap i got of her today whilst checking everything was still ok. Picture taken 8th Feb Shes not huge (yet) so im hoping theres only a pair or trio in there! ***Picture taken 17th Feb*** Pictures taken 22nd Feb Kayleigh

She's beautiful, Kayleigh.
I hope moving goes well for her and she doesn't get too stressed. Has she a friend to keep her company for the journey? That might help.
We baby-proofed our c&c by using bigger than normal fleeces and pinning them well up the sides. If you haven't already gotten an indoor cage for her that could be an option.

Truffle has decided she wants to be alone during her pregnancy, she was very aggressive to her previous cage mates so as per her say so ...shes alone. I have an indoor cage for her for the move so everyone will be safe.
Hoping all goes well too.

Haha! Truffle's gorgeous! Little madam's waiting 'till no one's looking before introducing little ones, isn't she? I can't wait to see the babies... I bred Himmies to show, years ago, and it takes me right back there!!!! It's such a waiting game to see how the markings will turn out, too! Patience is needed, indeed! Hope they all pop out with ease, and everyone fit and well. I always used to find that they ate less, just about the day before delivering! No room in there for any food, at that point, I guess!!!? Lol. Love&best wishes to Truffle and her brood. xxx

Its the reason i love breeding/showing the himalayans, its a lovely waiting game to see how they point, checking toes, pads, ears, and watching their smutts come in!
Still nothing as yet, shes definitely not as mobile as usual, and she doesnt rush for her veg. MAYBE just maybe over the weekend....
I have the patience of a saint but shes really testing them!! Haha

Hiya! Is Truffle still holding 'em in? I remember my very 1st mom went way over...and just to add to the excitement, she had 4...all sows!!! If only it had stayed that way, when I was trying to produce show Himmies!!? She was a Peruvian x Abby, and showed in pet classes. I love all the 'myths', and old wives' tales... I do realise they 'are noy very accurate', but it's good to have a bit of lighthearted fun. It helps when your nails are bitten down to nothing, waiting for a favourite sow to present you with her babies!!!! Can't wait to hear how she is, and how new ones are... Himmy breeders must be the most patient of all, though, cos then there's the wait for all their markings to develop!

Congrats to Kayleigh and Truffle!
Sorry about the two sleeping babies. Six is quite a big litter, isn't it? Can't wait to see them and watch them point.

Yep 6 is on the larger size!! I was hoping for 3/4 pups!! Thats an ideal litter size. Any more and the pups are born slightly smaller (like in this case) and singleton litters the pups can be too large to pass through the birth canal causing issues.
Pictures to come i promise - Ill create a new thread soon!

I know this might be out of topic, but I have a pregnant pig and I've got started feeling the kicks. How long would you estimate she has to go? Also, congrats on the litter! I hope they're doing well!

I hope they're doing well! If they are faint kicks/movements id say 7 weeks or so along. We can only guesstimate really. Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards

Ok, thanks! I was guessing 2-3 weeks because she's huge and the kicks seem to be getting stronger and stronger every day.
