My daughter got 3 sows in early December. They don't like being picked up any more although they have been handled regularly for cuddles, but now keep trying to bite when picked up. 1 has had to be separated from the other 2 as she is aggressive toward them at all times. We have decided to re-home them as we feel they probably need someone who is more experienced in living with cavvies than we are. We are saddened by this decision and have not come to it lightly. Please contact if you can suggest a place for them to be re-homed. They are not spayed and are around 5 months old.

are you sure they don't have mites? Mites can make guinea pigs very irritable because it hurts to be touched.

Hi Lisa, they definately don't have mites. They haven't been anywhere to get them and we don't have any other pets or been in contact with any source. It isn't that they squeal when picked up, they just don't settle to being cuddled very happily. They are not in any discomfort with it.

Do you give them hay? If yes then mites is definitely possible. Mites can be introduced through anything, bedding, some forms can come in through food, new introductions and so on.
