I have been studying genetics for a while and had a couple questions on color genetics specifically. I have an American chocolate and white, dark-eyed sow, and recently purchased an American lilac, cream, and white, dark-eyed boar. I have zero info on their backgrounds and what they could carry. What colors do you think they would produce? I know the babies will definitely have white markings. The mother is just about 50 percent white, she's split perfectly down the center (half white, half chocolate) and the boar has a blaze, white feet, and white on his belly. Other than that, should I just expect more chocolates and lilacs? Any input would be great

I'm probably not the best at knowing genetics for sure but when I did breed Guinea Pigs most of mine did take after their parents but I did have a few come out complete opposites from their parents with different colours etc. It is extremely hard to know what you might have a chance at getting if you are breeding Guineas without knowing their backgrounds so you could get all different colours or even a different breed pop up. A pet breeder of Guineas I knew had an abyssinian x abyssinian and got a completely smooth haired Guinea Pig of a complete different colour which completely was a huge shocker. The way I look at it is the further back you know about a Guinea the better as you can judge what you may be getting; people who have been breeding for years can still get Guineas pop up who was like their starting Guineas even after 10 years. So yes you are only as good as your starting stock and the stock you bring in. So depending on their lines you may expect different colour that is the exciting part of breeding, waiting to find out what you have got. I'm sure others will correct me if I'm a little wrong I know we have some real good breeder on here that know their stuff. But this is just my experience with breeding
