I weighed the babies yesterday for the first time and i was just wondering if these weights are okay? Ginger ( is the runt) 53g Stripey ( biggest) 80g Patch 69g Baby ( not much bigger than the runt) 59g I'm going to weigh them the same time tonight, I have seen all of them nursing and all of them have been munching hay, patch and stripey have tried some of mummies veggies but I'm a little worried about ginger and baby as their much smaller? Also Buttercup weighs 558g and Skittles weighs 602g, buttercup feels really skinny since she's given birth so I've been giving her additional veggies and pellets. Yes them weights are good my smallest baby to record weighed 20 g and I didn't think she would make it but she did all by herself and her mummy was the best mummy I have ever seen; she would push the other babies out the way to allow for Wince to eat/drink and now Wince has grown even bigger than her Mummy! So I would say the runt is a great weight just keep an eye that their weights are going up and all should be fine. Also Buttercup now needs to recondition as it takes a lot out of the Mums to give birth and feed their young so keep an eye that her weight is increasing and not dropping and all should be ok .

Personally i think those weights are on the small side. My recent litter of 6 all pups were over the 105g mark at birth.
Aslong as they are eating and running about thats good. I would be tempted to add a porridge mixture in the cage for them all (warmed goats milk and porridge oats) aptamil first milk goes down well with my lot too. I also have a bottle of ribena on all sows/pups cages.
The pups will drop a little weight before gaining again.
Keep hay, food, readi grass (if available) and veggies available for them all.

Also your sows weights are very small, what were their weights prior to getting mated? Was this a planned breeding?
Small sows will produce small pups.
Lovely pictures btw :-)

I don't think buttercup could have been very old at all, the guy said she was 4 weeks old when i got her and skittles only weighed 200g I gave the babies some mashed up pellets about twenty minutes ago and their all having ago at eating it. I'll try the porridge oats in the morning. Thank you for the advice!

Ohh im not preaching about where you got your piggies. Pet store, rescue or breeder. All are welcome here.
My first pig 16 years ago was from pets smart!!
Ahh so a very young sow, that explains the weights.
It sounds like your doing everything right. Perhaps a bottle of milk/water on the cage too. See if they will take to it.
Definately ribena for the sows. They will love it and itll help as high in vit c and has sugars.
Best of luck and keep us posted :-)

Weights vary alot between breeds, so id say aslong as they are fit, eating everything and lots of it, then they are fine. As for the boar mounting or trying too, he is in my opinion too young to get the deed done, hes practicing, learning ..... if he gets too amorous remove him at 3 weeks. I try to keep bosrs with mum until 4 weeks if possible. Never had an oops litter yet.
Comparison my 3 day old himi babies weigh from 111g - 157g and they are small in my opinion.
Go by eye rather than what your scales say. Happy healthy babies are the aim. So focus on that.

Kayleigh Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards Thanks kayleigh, the babies a really fit and healthy and very cheeky, their always running laps and popcorning and they keep crashing into each other! When ever i come in the room they squeak at me with mummy, it's so cute. I haven't separated them yet because the babies are still nursing and ginger hasn't managed to successfully mount any of them properly. I guess I'm just worried as i wouldn't to put them through what buttercup went through although she's been a great mum she certainly didn't deserve all this at such a young age! Thank you for the advice, I'll keep a close eye on them and see if i can keep them together for another week.
