hey guys. i found a huge solid lump of poo in my piggys cage. i researched online and spoke to my vet. she says its common in old male guinea pigs and so did the internet. its something to do with the anal sack getting slacker with age. i then had to empty it myself. i gave him a bath to clean him up. how often do i have to do this? or is there a certain food i can give him to help him?
thanks guys xx

One of my old guys was a bit like this a few months ago. It turned out there was another issue causing his impaction, but while he had it, I checked him daily and helped ease the poop out. It's easiest if someone can hold the piggy for you, otherwise it's pretty awkward. Oh, and it STINKS.
As for food, as long as he has a good quality hay and nugget and he's eating well then he's getting plenty of fibre so there's nothing you can really do to help, although cutting back on watery veg like cucumber might improve things a little.
