I was wondering if since I have a cold, my guinea pig could get sick from me. I have had my cold for about a week now, he has no signs of illness.

I think the answer is Yes! I know hamsters can and you are advised not to handled hamsters if you have a cold.
I hope you feel better soon, I am sure your piggy will be fine as long as you aren't sneezing over him.

Yes Guinea Pigs can catch urti's from us,I had a cold a couple of weeks ago,and kept a distance from my pigs, but that did not stop one of them breathing a bit rattly, but four days on Baytril once a day and it cleared up.

Most viruses are species-specific, so generally - going against the majority here - no, they can't. Colds included. They can catch bacterial infections though. However, given that most humans 'can't' differentiate between viral and bacterial cold symptoms, it is best to keep your distance. If possible, get someone else to deal with the pigs while you're sick, but if not, wash your hands well and breathe away from them and their cage.
