hey guys
archie has picked up a little. but im still very cautious about gettin my hopes up that he will be ok. he has started eatin a little more but he still isnt eatin a lot. we took him back to the vets yesterday and i asked about uppin his dose of baytril, changin it and bisolvon. but the vets said he didnt need any of these. he had two vets look at him and two of the vetinary nurses came to meet him. is there anythin else i can do? he has started to drink a little out of his water bottle, is this a good sign?
thanks

Its an upper respitory infection Abby , you could help him by putting some vicks or olbas oil on his nose to help him breath . If he eats or drinks its a good sign . The most important thing to do is keep up with fluids and any food he will eat while the antibiotic gets time to kick in , if he stops eating and drinking you need to hand feed . good luck x

I would wait to see if he gets better with the meds from the vet first , i dont think it would be wise to mix these meds ! If he doesn't get better with the meds from the vet then you could try sudafed , its a human cough remedy at a dose of 0.2 daily plus half a 2mg capsule of garlic oil ( peter gurney dosages ) but please dont try this till you see if the vet meds work

Keep up with the vet meds first give it some time to get into his system . The olbas oil or vicks can be great , some of my pigs are in the shed in a wooden hutch so i was able to pour olbas oil down the inside of the door . If you have an inside cage put vick or olbas oil on a hankie and put it on top of the bars then place a towel over the cage this will allow him to breath it in . Is he still eating / drinking ok ? Why do you think the meds are not working ? sorry for all the questions just trying to help x

hey
we took archie to the lovely lady at cambridge cavy trust. she had a good look at him and said his chest sounds clear and so does his throat. she said his teeth had just over grown, so she trimmed them back. we got him home and he is havin a little trouble adjustin to the fact his teeth are shorter but he really really wants to eat. so fingers crossed he will be ok. will keep u updated. thank u all for ur help.

hey
his tooth is a little chipped but not too badly to affect him. he is just startin to be able to use his front teeth. but i havin been cuttin his food up into bite sized chucks. he is bein picky though and tonite has decided he wont eat his fresh veg. on the whole though things are lookin up. its like havin a baby, syrine feedin him and cuttin his food up, sittin with him to encourage him to eat, bless him. he is worth the effort though.
thanks for all your help. it is much apreciated
