Poor Hilda has a little wheeze when she's breathing. It's only very small (I only heard it because she was sitting on my shoulder) and she's got a little bit of a cough too. We brought her to the vet this morning who said she was definitely sounding a bit chesty but her temperature is spot-on and since she's eating, drinking and pooping as normal she's probably okay but she got an antibiotic injection just in case (the poor baby spontaneously shed a load of fur, she was so scared) and now she's on 1.25mg of marbocyl p a day for four days as a precaution. She was a little dozy after her jab but she's been in great form all evening so we'll just keep an eye on her and hope she's okay (she's my little baby girl, she HAS TO BE!). Xander got checked out too, seeing as their cages are side by side. Let's just say having a thermometer shoved up his bum was not how he hoped to start his weekend Hee hee.

That's the thing, she's acting completely normally, you wouldn't think there was anything wrong with her at all. I just wanted to get her seen to in case she went downhill really fast but she's still running around her cage, squeaking at the top of her lungs and eating her own body weight in food every day. I freaked because I was afraid she'd develop a URI or something. But so far she's doing well. She doesn't like taking her medicine, but otherwise she's good

Oh, she freaked me out last night! I walked into the room and Maria was pointing at her going "Look!!! What's happening?!!!" and Hildie was standing, front paws in her dry food bowl, making a weird heaving hiccup motion. I was convinced she was dying, I was so scared. But then I looked up one of my Peter Guerney books and he said that most likely something she had eaten had gone down the wrong way and I felt much better. She's fine now, acting as though she didn't try to scare me to death

I'm glad Hilda's alright. My Jack used to get a bit wheezy from time to time but we think it was due to an allergy. Since we've had him on different hay he's been ok.

Yeah, see it could have been something really simple like that and I think I completely overreacted in bringing her straight to the vet. Still, I wouldn't have had peace of mind until she'd been looked at. I freak out even when she's resting/sleeping (eyes open, I can't tell!) and she doesn't move!

I'm exactly the same Orlaith. It's better to be safe than sorry.
