Went to pick up new piggie Doris today for a cuddle and noticed her eyes are full of gunk. I had had concerns yesterday when I noticed one eye was starting to look bigger than the other but today the small eye was barely open and there was loads of gunk in it. Rang the vets straight away and shes booked in for tomorrow. Poor little girl feel really sorry for her. Now I am worried I have unknowingly passed it on to my other pig by accident as I didnt wash my hands before handling her after the sick piggie. Shes been stuffed with anti biotics for the last three weeks tho so hopefully that might have fended the infection off in the new one if there was one in the other piggie.

Awww poor thing. I hope the vet can sort her out. xxxxx My girls Amber and Ruby had crusted eyes the day after I got them, we used Brolene eye drops but I have a feeling we used something else too but I can't for the life of me remember. Anyway, they were fine after a few days.

Hello thanks for replying everyone. I took doris to the vets p@h are paying for her treatment because we bought her less than a week ago. We have some eye drops for her and have to use them twice a day after bathing her eyes. They are still pretty gummed up though. The nurse was concerned about her weight though as shes really skinny so back to the vets again on saturday. Yipee for me, I feel like I live there these days. x

Funnily enough my two girls came from Pets At Home too. But I never thought to get them to pay for the treatment.

Sorry for not replying sooner. Both my piggies are indeed from p@h but two different stores.
When you buy a pig from there what they are supposed to tell you is that they are entiled to a free health check from the vets instore (companion care) its usually the nurse that checks them over but if they need any medication then they go get a vet to check them over and they charge the treatment to the store you bought the pig from.
Doris has had treatment for nearly a week now and her eyes are clearing up but now she has a URI. I will post a new msg about the pair of my piggies.
Forgot to mention if you do take the pigs back to p@h vets you will need the reciept or the white slip saying when you bought them x
