Okay, we've made our decision and Xander is booked in for the 19th of March to get his operation. I'm really nervous but for both piggies I think this is the best choice.
After we bring Xanxan home, should we keep him separated from Hilda? We don't know if we should just block off the ramp and let them both live upstairs or if we should give him a little section of the c&c cage to himself so he doesn't try to exercise too much. I don't really want to separate them totally because that'll only make them anxious if they can't see each other (they've always at least lived side by side, if not together) , but if seeing Hilda is only going to agitate Xander would it be a better option? I don't really want to upset Hilda either because we think she's pregnant and I don't want to stress her. I'm going to talk to the vet anyway, but I was wondering what ye guys thought so I could get some more opinions and be a bit more prepared. Thanks!

Yes keep him seperate so that he can rest and recover. He shoudl stay seperate for at least 4 weeks as he can still be fertile for a while after too. Look out for lumps or infection too as this is quite common after this sort of op. Good lucky hope it all goes well for you and Xander

Cool, thank you!
Is it still okay to bed him on fleece? I figured we'd be able to see if he's bleeding or anything more easily that way.
I hope he's okay! Poor little guy!

I would keep him seperate he needs a good rest to recover . I kept Larry out for 8 weeks i just couldn't take the risk of him getting 24 sows pregnant lol . I kept larry on fleece as you say its easier to see if he is peeing ok and not bleeding . He might be a little down after the op but its understandable after he had his nuts cut off , just tempt him with some lovely food and keep his cage very clean . He will thank you when he is back with his girlfriend , i hope all goes well xx

Should we keep him totally away from Hilda or is beside her okay? I don't want them to get lonely but I don't want Xander getting excited and hurting himself either.
