I need some helpful insight please!! I have 2 of my boars are in the same cage and as of today they have both lost over 730 gr in about 2 weeks! They are both still eating and drinking about the same. They have cut back a little bit but nothing much for them. We did a thorough cage change and took everything out cleaned and disinfected all of their things. In one of the corners of their cage there was mold And here I thought their cage was clean! Is this the cause of the sudden weight loss? They are older boars around 3+ and the one little guy is just so thin and boney. He still has his spunk so I don't really know what to think. I mixed them some rolled oats tonight to try and give them a bit "extra" and see if that might help them put some of the weight back on... So, any suggestions on any of this? I have already emailed the vet and am currently waiting to see what she says about it all as well, but since she is likely not going to get her emails until morning I wanted to try here and see what you guys have to say! I am very a very worried piggy mum my poor little guys!

Sorry, they have lost about 230 gr...not 730!! So much for multi-tasking and being accurate!

Their teeth seem fine...and they were just checked by the vet 3 weeks ago! And they were fine...they are still eating and drinking a lot! She has not gotten back to me yet but it is only 930 am here! I am hoping she can get them in this morning to see what is happening. Thanks.

I hope all goes well for your boys. It is worrying when weight loss is involved. Guinea pigs teeth do grow pretty quickly so even if they were fine 3 weeks ago it is possible that they could have problems. My Ruby has to have her teeth trimmed every 2 weeks as even after three weeks she can have problems with an overgrown molar. She has a missing incisor and a molar and subsequently the opposite molar overgrows as it has nothing to grind against.
