I have just been to the vets with Molly my female who had bladder stones last year and sadly it looks like she has another one, she has blood in her urine somedays, though not all and sometimes it seems that it is painful to pass urine...though not all the time so it looks like she has a stone that is moving about. Anyway the vets tested her urine and said that it had a lot of blood in it, though not visible to the eye today , and a lot of protein which would indicate an infection also. She has prescribed Baytril 0.3ml, probably on a long term basis due to the infection being caused by a stone...she did ask if I wanted the powder to give her that helps to keep the bacteria in the stomach correct but I have said that I will try Yakult. I know I have seen it mentioned on a posting on here but I can't find it now - Can someone help me please and tell me just how much Yakult I need to giver her each day and is it a dose after each lot of Baytril?

Oh poor little soul Yes you can use yakult but I usually use Actimel which is the same thing. I try and give 1ml 4 or 5 times a day but some pigs might not take that much.

Thanks Dawn, I'm sure she will take that much as we give her syringes of warm water every couple of hours anyway at the moment...in the vain hope that it will flush the stone/s through, and she takes that really well so I shall just give it to her at the same time. She's a little sweetie and such a good patient.

It seems to work with humans too! I was told last week that I have a very low immune system and cant fight anything off at the moment (that is why I am always poorly!) And I have been told to drink Yakult with its 'good' bacterias
