Hello My darling lily needs spaying we have had injections but she is run down and swollen again.Vet feels spaying best way forward long term. She is 2 years old. I read lots of conflicting opinions and i know its up to me,but have any members had positive experiences of spaying ? She is booked in for next week. Helen x

Hello friends Sad news my beloved Lily passed away following her surgery. She had complications and lost too much blood as surgery turned out to be more complicated than expected. Her cysts were bad and stuck down. The vet called us and warned us she may not pull through, they did try resuscitation but she died an hour later. We went to see her she was still warm and we had lots of cuddles.Lily was one of my first and we have not reproached ourselves as we felt we had a difficult decision to make but made it in her best interests. The vets at Charter in congleton were lovely and i thank them for being sensitive to our upset. Darcy lilys partner was fretting as expected and we have quickly had to welcome Sindy to our family from guineawigsrescue based in Stoke on Trent. She was rescued from an auction and is a lovely little sow very happy with our neutered Darcy. Lily was a gorgeous gentle sow, show winner of pet awards and she will be sorely missed by us all. You can check out guineawigsrescue at www.guineawigsrescue.co.ukHelen x

Aw, I'm so sorry to hear about Lily. It must have been a tough decision but at least you gave her a chance to recover and not be sick for too long.

Just been reading through some posts and came across this one. Sorry to hear about your little girl.
I have had one of my guinea pigs spayed last year. Thankfully all went well. The vet did say however that her scar was bigger than normal as he had had to dig deeper to get to her ovaries.
