Hi Guys
Rhubarb, our 3 year old boar, has been on antibiotics for a while now because of a wry neck and recurrent ear infection.
This morning when I did his meds I noticed poo stuck in his bum. We put him in the sink with some warm water and gently eased it out. It looked like two fully formed but dry, poos stuck together. it didn't smell bad or look mushy in any way.
How can I tell if this was constipation or impaction?
Thanks
Genie
ETA - I've been wondering if this is because his wry neck has meant he cant reach himself to clean properly as well. Any ideas?

It does sound like a bit of constipation to me might be the antibiotics that are doing it. Are you giving him probiotics? These ones are good Pro C link Antibiotics can destroy the good bacteria as well as the bad but this will restore his gut bacteria back to normal

Thanks Dawn,
Yes we have that exact one! But he's not had it for a few weeks as he had a bit of a break from the meds (under vetinary supervision). He went back to the vet last night and now has another course of Baytril so I'll make sure he has some probiotic too.
Is there anything we can feed him to ease constipation?

When a guineapig has had antibiot6ic s it is important that you give probiotics during the time that they are on their mediation and very important that you continue the probiotics for at least a week after the antibiotics have finished, as this is when the dreaded diorrhoea will start. This advice was given by my vet and since following these instructions we have not had the squiters after treatment

Absolutely agree 100% :-) Unfortunately Rhubarb has the opposite problem :-)
