This may be a daft question but I haven't found the answer on the internet. My son & I both have this swine flu and I found out my dog can't catch it, but what about my piggies? All I can find out is that pigs can give it to humans & vice versa. Seeing my girls are only a year old I don't want to give them anything, so I am not handling them and washing hands etc before feeding. My piggies are all outside in the shed, so they aren't really brreathing in a germs other than the times I go out there. Which is only twice a day whilst I feel this rough

The answer is yes & no. Our guinea pigs like many animals can catch our germs, colds etc but not in the same form we have it. I myself have just gotten over swine flu and took the precautionary measures to protect everyone around me, pets included. Aslong as you make sure you wash your hands before and after handling, feeding etc then you should be fine.
