Hello everyone,
I wish I came here with some good news but I don't. several months ago I bought my 2 kids each their own guinea pig, who live in their own seprate cages. My daughter's guinea pig had 3 babies (we didnt know she was pregnant when we bought her) on July 20th so we have 5 guinea pigs all together. So we have 3 cages, one hold the 2 baby boys and one has the mother guinea and her daughter and one cage has my son's female guinea pig.
But anyways a few days ago, my son wasnt thinking and put his guinea pig in the wrong cage with the mommy and her daughter and the mother guinea got mad and attacked her. Fist I didnt see anything on her, no blood or anything.
Then a few days ago I noticed she had a big scab on her lip and today I noticed her ear is VERY badly bitten. I cleaned her ear out with water and a q-tip, which she didnt like very much. I dont know what to do cause it looks like it's infected. I cant afford to take her to the vet til Oct. 30th (when I get paid), is their anything else I can do til then to help stop any infection?
My son is crying right now, he's 9 years old, almost 10 and he feels terrible. He thinks she hates him, and I told him that guinea pigs are very forgiving . Well anyways, I do have a vet can I can take her to when I get money, I took my daughter's guinea pig to this vet when she was pregnant, but they dont take payments for guinea pigs....Thank you in advance for any help. I'm very new to the guinea pig world, and I absoutly love them. I'm the main caregiver for all my animals, we have 5 guineas, 3 degus, and 3 rats which are all VERY VERY spoiled and I want them to have the best care possible and I feel bad that I cant afford a vet this very moment or else I would take her in a heartbeat.
Thank you
Maria
