Do you feed her apple or any fruit that has an acid content as this can cause scabby lips, but usually in the corner of the mouth. We recently had a guineapig that had a sore mouth but was well in himself. I think sometimes it can be like our cold sore and the body eventually kills it off without treatment as ours did. We just kept on eye on it. Make sure that she is eating and drinking though otherwise she will dehydrate, and if he seems unwell then I would say a trip to the vet would be in order.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info guys. I am taking my Sweetpea to the vet today anyway because she has a weird sore as well, so I'm thinking a vet would be my best bet.

Yes it just a fungal infection but can be passed on to us humans so you will need to be carefull when handling your pig . What have they given for treatment ?

Ringworm is very common partiularly this time of the year as the coinditions in some caviaries can be very damp and this is the worse environment for fungal infections. Imaveral is the usual treatment for this and it works very well.

Hi, Thanks for the comments, celia!
I was given a topical solution for my piggy's nose and face. I'm going for a follow up appointment at the vet on Wed, but she's much better.
No more puffyness and back to normal color. She's only about 6 months old, and acting like it, too! She's really doing much better and eating up a storm.

So glad she's doing much better, and glad its nothing serious. I caught Ringworm off a cat once, gave it to a friend who gave it back to me in turn!
Its so incredibly itchy, was horrible.
