ive never bred before as i only have males but i was wondering why the females pelvic fuses after a certain age? i know it may have been asked loads of times but as i have only ever had males i have no clue on females

I know that some people say that the pelvic bones fuse, but from what I have learned is that they don't actually fuse, but they just become inflexible. Think about yourself, if you don't use a certain body part that part tends to stiffen up. This is what happens with sows, if they don't use their pelvic bones they become inflexible. That is why I think some people have luck breeding sows that are older and some don't. It's just riskier to breed an older pig that has never littered before.
