My poor Tia has another absess. This time its on her back. I was at the vets last night who gave me some more baytril to give to her and iv been told to "clean the absess out" (eww) Not the nicest of jobs. The vet says its not the same as the one that grew under her neck.
This one hasnt englarged as rapidly as the neck one did. And its got a thick white puss instead of a liquidy yellowy white puss.
A quick question though, Are absesses like humans with say acne, they are either prone to them or not.
All my pigiges live in the same areas, they are kept very clean etc etc but its just Tia whom i seem to have the "vet" trips with.
Shes still eating well and takes her baytril like a good girl.
Thoughts on absess's......Prevention etc??
Thanks
Kayleigh

I've only experienced an abscess once with one of my pigs & i'm convinced his was caused by a haypoke as it was on his tum. I really have no idea how to prevent them or wether you could but i do think (as in people) some piggies are more prone to certain things than others

Hi, sorry about Tia, at least she is in good spirits by the sounds of it. I always check Peter Gurney's advice pages for problems first and this is what he says about abcesses: www.oginet.com/pgurney/abcess.htmI hope she gets better soon and does not get any more!
