I would seperate him if he is mating his mum as a boar that age can be sexually mature from that age onwards i think and as you say you dont want any more babies even more so related ones

Hey Honey. I separated Hilda's boys from her at sixteen days old because they were mounting their mum and sister and they were absolutely fine. They were a bit upset and lonely for the first day but after that they were fine and they already had big appetites, so I think your little man will be okay.

Yes you can seperate him at 2 weeks 4 days of age. He will be just fine on his own, might be a little lonely at first and he will cry out, but he should be just fine on his own. Do you have his dad to put him in with? Or an adult boar?

I don't know about 4 days old, that seems a little too young to seperate. I would wait until he is at least a week and you see him eating and drinking on his own first. I really doubt he is sexually mature yet and probably just practicing. I'm surprised mom is letting him, I usually see mom's nipping at them saying "knock it off". The baby boar is 2 weeks + 4 days old I have always been led to believe that baby boars should be removed from mum at 3wks, earlier if they are mounting etc. However someone gave me food for thought regarding this. If mum is ready to breed immediately after birth & then doesn't come into oestrus for 15-17 days after (lasts up to 48hrs) but the sows are only likely to be successfully impregnanted during the actual oestrus which lasts 2-15 hours this would mean the babies, at this point, would only be a maximum of 19 days old (after 48hr oestrus). At this age they are not sexually mature. Given that this information is correct why do baby boars need separating aged 3wks when mum is not yet in oestrus & wouldn't be for a further 13-15 days. Any young sows in the litter would also not be in oestrus as they aren't sexually mature until at least 4wks of age. Where does the 3wk cut off for baby boars come from & does anyone else have any thoughts on the above? Whilst i don't breed (& therefore don't claim to know if the above is correct or not) i have had a pregnant petshop pig. Her single baby was a boar & a complete surprise & i did remove him from her when he was 3wks of age but this has certainly made me think wether i did right or not.

Yeah she was nipping at him to tell him knock it off, and then she would let him mount, so Im going to seperate him, he will live with my neutered boar. But like Niki says I thought they couldnt impregnant anyone until 4 weeks of age until they were sexually mature, but at the moment Im not risking it and Im seperating

Same thing happened with me. I wasn't as worried about him impregnating anyone, he was so young, but she was biting at him and he was bothing everyone in the cage and they were fighting with him, so I took him out so he wouldn't get hurt.

I know, my bad... I had fixed it but I guess not before someone could point out my mistake, ops.
I usually don't seperate until 4 weeks, but there is another thread on here with people saying that they had young sows get pregnant at 4 weeks of age from their brothers...
With that being said I had a mom with a litter of 4 boars and I didn't take them all out until they were over 5 weeks of age due to limited space. And mom didn't get pregnant.
