I've had a very scary day today. Bailey had been having a problem with his right eye (he already had a cataract in it) he'd recently had a slight bleed in it but it disappeared. Anyway, over the past couple of days it bled again but this time the blood didn't go and the eye started to bulge out. We took him to the vets this morning and the vet did a few tests and said it looked like glaucoma and that it was probably quite painful for him so it would be best to remove the eye. He had the operation this afternoon and obviously I've been worried sick about him but we later got a phone call to say that he was ok and starting to recover from the anaesthetic. We were able to bring him back home a couple of hours ago and he seems ok, he looks a bit drunk because of the drowsiness but he is eating and walking around. The eye area looks ok, much better than I expected and I'm hoping he'll be alright now.

Bailey is continuing to improve although he's a bit nervous at the moment. This is how he looks today:

I pray he makes a fast recovery! I am glad he's doing better today. Is he still eating like normal?

Awwww bless him, I'm sure he'll adapt pretty soon once he's got over the actual op...and if he's now painfree it's got to be better for him , Tracy

Thanks guys. He is eating well and physically seems fine but he's just a little bit nervous at the moment. I think he just needs to get used to having one eye. He's got a check up at the vets tomorrow so hopefully they'll be pleased with his progress so far.

I'm sure its scary from having both eyes to only one! I suppose it will take some time.

We took him for his check up at the vet this morning and she is very pleased with his wound and said it's looking really good. The only thing is Bailey is a bit bloated today and the vet said to bring him back tomorrow if he's no better as she'd rather not given him any more meds at the moment if it can be helped. I've given him a charcoal tablet and a tummy massage and will see how he goes today.

Aw, poor Bailey! It must be a big change for him. I hope he continues making a good recovery.

Thanks Orlaith. He's a tad quiet and off his food a bit at the moment which we think is due to the antibiotics but the vet has given us some Critical Care for him and hopefully once he's finished the course he'll pick up again.
