hi my teddys had what i thinks a fungal skin prob. it mainly started when she was moved to live outside with her other cage buddies. they were on shavings so changed to megazorb as read it was better. i firstly treated them all with ivermec in case it was mites, then ivamarol as suspected it was fungal as the teddy had thicker scales round her bum the skins quite dry still but better as scales have gone however i notice what i can only describe as thin grains of rice shaped scales on the tip of her nose leading 1cm up the bridge. have bathed with ivamarol as suspected fungal again and then applied caneston cream. have done this for 2 days now. this morn i gently rub the nose, scales came off but the skin undefrneath is raised, bumpy and has red pitting. am i doing the right hing treatemnt wise (shes eating fine herself) and any idea what it is. all the other pigs are ok, some have white flaky ears so teated with canestan cream and galens garden cream and clearing well. feel like worst piggy mum in world, please help

Is it a stripe up her nose? If so this is commonly known as a fungal nose stripe, why they appear no-one seems to know. You can treat her with canestan as you are doing or leave it, they do go away on their own, eventually Forgot to say they cause no effect to the piggy who has one. I have a sow who has one at the moment but it is getting less visible & one of my past boars got one every single winter.

its like a 5mm x 5mm square pacth on the tip of her nose. after wiping the crusts away yesterday and applying canetan twic , it looks a lot better this monring, the skin undermenath does nt look as bumpy. my other sow had a similar thing ages ago but only a little strip. The teddies was bigger and more pronounced. thanks for getting back to me, i ll keep appying the canestan. her eyes are also a bit crusty so applying very carefully cream there also.

Is the crustiness around her eyes a patch below the eye or on the eye rims? Crustiness round the eyes "can" indicate a respiratory infection & for this she would need antibiotics from your vet
