today i picked up one of my guinea pigs, Clover. I found a lump in her neck, it was quite hard about the size of a garden pea and she showed no sign of pain, this points to cancer to me but my family are saying its probably nothing to worry about. i am hoping to get her to a vet tomorrow to get her checked out. i am really worried for her and hope that is not cancer. also how much would you expect to pay to have it removed? thanks, all help and advice appreciated.

it could be any number of things, so dont worry too much until your vet has had a look. vets prices vary greatly depending where you are. xx

we haven't taken her to a vet, yet as we phoned a friend who knows everything anybody needs to know about guinea pigs! and she said not to worry at the moment but to keep an eye on her, i will take her to the vet if the lump starts to grow. felt it again earlier, it doesn't seem to have got bigger, if anything a bit smaller.!

My Guineapig has the same thing except it is larger (Probably the size of my thumb). Does anyone know what it is? She recently had a litter but I don't think this is related... She is only about 6 mo. old. I just found the lump this morning. I have been out of town for 2 weeks so that's why I didn't catch it any sooner. Any suggestions?

It might just be an abscess. It could be nothing to worry about at all. If she's still nursing her pups I would monitor it daily to see if it grows or gets hot or gets harder or softer, but if she's not nursing anymore then it's worth taking her to the vet to get checked out.
Just to note, if at any point the lump starts to feel really hot then it's probably infected and you'll need to bring her to the vet asap.
