Hello, Has anyone heard of symetrical balding on the shoulder area? I've got a Texel with no sign of parasites, she has been treated for any just in case, she is lively, eats well and is a good weight, she doesn't scratch and the skin looks clean and healthy and yet, the coat is so thin you can see through it. It's been going on for months, ever since she lost most of her coat (and got chewed) after giving birth last november. Any ideas? I'm thinking it could be hormonal?

I'm not to sure. I've heard of pigs losing their fur during and after pregnancy alright due to hormones. You'd think it would be sorted by now though. If she's not in any discomfort I wouldn't worry too much, but if you have a good cavy vet it might be worth even just giving them a call in case it's caused by something to do with her ovaries (if it's hormonal).

Oh good idea about the ovaries... She is lively and well, but it may indeed be an underlying problem with her "bits"!... Thanks!
