Hi everyone I thought i would start a thread on my two pregnant sows. Both are due around the same time late April to mid May but as we all know sows like to keep us waiting. Both sows have been partnered with boars for just over 5 weeks and are now togeather to spend their pregnancies and hopefully deliver and help eachother out. Sugar is the younger of the two sows and loves to cuddle. Apatche has an attitude on her just now and prefers to sit near me and eat her veggies. Both sows get on great which im delighted about. They both had some outside running time which they loved, the fresh air and sunshine seemed to make them smile. I got quite a few snaps of them togeather inside. I like to see how they progress size wise and share the experience. Just to note Sugar is the Himalayan sow and Apatche is the tri coloured sow. Top view; Waiting nicely for their veg; Nosey Sugar; Apatches wolfing her greens; Clearly the yummiest piece of greens (i love how Sugars mouth is open and going in for the munch) Ill keep this thread as updated as possible. Theres at least 5 weeks to go id say, and it should be an excited 5 weeks. Kayleigh

Thank you.
Both sows are doing good, getting along great which im very pleased about. They both have a 6ft hutch to themselves so they are getting plenty of exercise. They are also getting out daily to roam about the floor and to give them something else to sniff.
I think Apatche is going to be first to deliver as shes a fair bit large than Sugar. Will be keeping a close eye on both sows until nearer the time to ensure theres no fighting going on (sows can get very hormonal when pregnant)

Just a small update, both sows are still good friends *yay* and are munching away happily on veggies and nature sticks. They had a good hours roam tonight and i got a couple of snaps of them. Apatche is looking nice and plump with Sugar being a fair bit smaller. I am certain Apatche will be the first to deliver her pups. 42 days after being paired, im certain neither sow took in the first couple of days. Kayleigh

Ill try and get some new pigtures tomorrow of the two, Its lovely to see them grow wider, the pregnant sow always seems to glow.
Im hoping to get some nice weather this weekend so they can get some fresh air and grass. But its been raining non stop all today so it may be wishful thinking.

Ooh, Apatche is getting quite a belly on her, isn't she? They're both gorgeous, I'd say you're going to get some lovely babies from them.
How long does it take for himi babies to get their points? I know they're born all white but I don't know when they start to get their colouring.

Yes Orlaith Apatche really is filling out nicely. They are both filling out. Sugar is going to be the one who keeps me waiting. Shes taking her time but im sure she wont be too much longer after Apatche. Apatche 01/04/11 Sugar 01/04/11 Im going to try and get a few weight checks on the two once i lay my hands on my scales. Just to give a size comparison on the two. Iv been told himis are likely to produce larger litters but since my last sow delivered 5 im ready for what Sugar can deliver!! Hehe. The Himis usually begin to get their points at a few weeks old, they start to darken up slowly but surely. Spice is 10 weeks old on saturday and her points are really starting to come through. I got her at 7 weeks and she had a little point on her nose and her feet had began to turn from white to black. Ill make a thread on her in a moment. Itll be nice to show everyone her transformation. I took a short video of my two sows today. Just to show you both of them in motion. Please excuse my breathing (recovering from broken ribs, so breathing is uneasy) Also note not all the wheeking you can hear is the sows, Its all the other piggies waiting patiently for their attention turn. When im in the room they always think its veggie time. Video Link ; youtu.be/jUFeU9eO-m4Kayleigh

Thanks Orlaith that should all be sorted now. Silly me.
Both sows are looking good and Sugars finally beginning to look more oval.
Apatche is huge now, I can feel the pups very easily now, heads and bums.
Her due date is the 24th but it could be before or after.

Its getting closer to her intial due date (24th) but as we all know sows keep us waiting. Im getting more excited and slightly anxious as i can feel what "feels" like a large pup. I hope she doent take after her Granny pig (Squeak) as she had a large pup that was DOA. Hopefully im just worrying over nothing and she will deliver ok.
We never know she may deliver between the dates, her 72nd day is the 24th. shouldnt be too long now before pup pics.

No news yet. But no news is good news right!! Hehe. Im keeping a very close eye on Apatche as iv noticed her hips have widened to the "delivery" size. Shes now walking with her poor little legs splayed and it looks very awkward. Shes still happy and waddling about though, came wheeking out for her veggies tonight. I got a couple of snaps of her and her big bulge. Shes a delightful pregnant piggy to be around. Ill keep you all updated as much as i can. Kayleigh
