Its extremly difficult to say which "colour" you would use. When breeding pet guinea pigs it can be pot luck as to what colour the pups are. The reason for this being you dont know what breeds, colours are in their lines.
My first sow i bred was a pet, she was ginger and white, the boar i used was a beautiful dark red colour. And two of the pups came our jet black, with the third being just like his dad.
When breeding specific breeds its not usually colours we breed for but for markings and quality of the pups. Since i have bred my himalayan sow to a himalayan boar i should get himi pups born.
Its all down to personal preference as to what boar you mate to a sow. Aslong as both are healthy happy and able to breed then they should produce healthy offspring.

It can be a pick n mix sort of outcome with pet piggies. But its still lovely to see what colours we get. I try to keep the colorations similar.

I would say go with a white boar or a grey boar. Im sure you will get a surprise when the pups arrive though.

Please remember to do lots of research regarding breeding if you havent bred before. Ensure the sow is of the right age, weight and is nice and healthy. The same goes with the boar.
Any questions or queries ask away.

Good luck and please keep us updated. We all love pigtures and pups pigtures.

No I know, and I like to read up before I do anything,
Just one thing if a sow has had one pup will she need to have a bigger litter before a year or will she be ok, sorry if that sounds stupid

As far as im aware, so long as a sow has littered before a year old she should be fine with a second litter. As with any pregnancy there can be complications.
