ok i noticed my guinea pig has alot of dandruff and dirt n such in there coat is there anything i can do? because they are shedding alot to and i been brushing them about 3 times a day to help prevent it. They love being itched n brushed alot too i figure cause of the dandruff should i give them a bath? or what do u recommended or should i add a oil supplement to there food if so which should i add? i did just adopt them and they are my 1st guinea pigs they are short hair. Also i tried only brushing them once a day but it dose better with 3 10 mins sessions a day.

Have you treated them for mites, my little 8 week old has flakey skin as such and I have treated him, you could try bathing them but think about mite treating them as well

I would give them both a nice warm bath with a mite/flea pet shampoo. Im not saying they may have mites but this just covers all the bases. They will smell nicer and alot of the loose hair should come out.

Its non-alkaline formula contains the key active ingredient d-Limonene, a pleasant citrus-scented insecticide, plus cleansing agents, lanolin, and special conditioners. I recommend this company for guinea pig shampoos. I've gotten them to ship to Ireland and it's not too expensive, so maybe shipping to the US won't be too dear either? Personally I wouldn't use a cat shampoo in case it's too strong. If you can't find a nice gentle piggy shampoo then you could always use Johnson's Baby shampoo (the No More Tears one) as an alternative. It isn't flea/mite shampoo but it would do the job.
