Hi, i am a new owner of my piggy - Zoe. I bought her at my local Petco on Tuesday June 14th. (Yes i know, thats prob my first mistake.. but she was soo cuuttee). I bought the same bedding that they used in the store (cant reMember what kind off the top of my head) because i figured shes already used to that bedding, why switch it up on her. She has been sneezing alot and has a runny nose, even blew a bubble at me haha. Her right eye is not bulging out like her left eye is.. and it is a little crusty. I have washed it with luke warm towel but it still comes back. My boyfriend did have her by the window.. that could possibly be drafty. We moved her away from it last night. I have 15 days to bring her back to Petco where they will bring her to a vet and give her back to me once the vet releases her. Should i be worried enough to let her go to the vet before the 15 days are up? She is just so adorable, i dont want them to switch her out or anything!!!

Sounds like she has a uri and I think you should get petco to take her to a vet, unless you have the money too, also maybe change her bedding to something else,

take her to the vet asap, sounds like a Upper Respiratory Infection and Conjunctivitis. They can get serious, take her to your own vet and then they can't switch her. Switch from wood-chips if she is on it, to either blankets, or carefresh or hay and newspaper as a lot of guinea pigs have a reaction to it. As she is from petco keep a good eye on her fur as she may have mites or a fungal infection, if she does her fur will start falling out in small patches (people can't catch mites so don't panic and they are fairly easy to sort out, just need a spot on if she has and the fur will grow back). Don't worry it is all fix-able, and I am not being judgemental about petco, I bought mine from pets at home which is similar, and they both had mites, URI's and one had congunctivitus. But I got through it and they are both fine and happy now and look better than new good luck x

Definitely agree about the bedding, a lot of pigs have problems with wood chips and their symptoms go away once the bedding is changed.
If her eye is only crusty and not oozing then I would say it's related to her chest and not a separate eye problem, but even if it's conjunctivitis this is really easily solved with drops for a few days. One of my pigs had it and it only took a week of treatment to fix.
Does the vet have to keep her? Could you bring her along and get the meds and treat her yourself?
