Afternoon Everyone
I just thought id make a little post about one of my himi pups. This little guy isnt doing too great. All four pups were thriving and munching away and popcorning about as id expect. I went in to do the evening check and noticed one pup sitting by himself. I kept an eye on him over the next couple of days and noticed he was looseing weight.
I made the decision to take Sugar (mum) and this youngster out of the hutch and put them in a smaller cage for the night. I have since placed Sugar back in with her litter and kept this little guy in a small carrier with a hot water bottle and a variety of finely chopped veggies and some soft pelleted food. Im also feeding the pup 3 times a day to give him that extra boost.
Im not certain he will make it but im giving him a fighting chance.
I dont think he is unwell as such, I think he has just been pushed aside by his siblings and left until last to feed ect.
Ill keep you all updated on his progress and fingers crossed he pulls through.
Once he gains more weight and perks up a bit he will go in with his brothers for company.

Hes still with us and hes munching away on some chopped veggies as I type. Hes still eating his hay and the readi grass. Im still not certain of the outcome but fingers crossed he pulls through. Im due to go on holiday on Sunday and i dont really want to leave the little guy behind. Ill see how he does the next couple of days then decide if hes coming on a road trip.
My partner thinks im bonkers.

Iv decided to reunite the entire family again under the close watch of myself. The pigs are 2 weeks old today so the boars will be removed from the sows in the next week or so. You can clearly see in the pigtures which one is the unwell pig. His hair is all fluffy and hes a fair bit smaller than his siblings. I have checked him over along side his siblings and nothing seems to be wrong. Hes just getting pushed aside and needed a little one on one care. Kayleigh

Me too. They have all settled down well. Im reluctant to seperate him from his mum but needs must especially as he matures. Hes super friendly around humans with the hand feeding ect. Hes going to be a hard one to rehome if he makes it and i decide to give him up.

Well iv decided to bring this wee man now named Turk on holiday with me. Hes not putting the weight on like id hoped and im not keen on leaving him behind. So hes having a road trip. Hes so friendly i dont think im going to be able to let him go, He now waits for me to come and get him to feed him.
Im still worried about this little fella as he has now began to tilt his head slightly when sleeping. This might just be his way of sleeping but im keeping a cautious eye on him.
Ill keep you up to date with wee Turk

Iv managed to spare a moment to get online, Turk made the 500 odd mile Journey safely with us down to Essex. Hes doing fabulous in the heat too. Hes eating away and loves all the fresh veggies from my Nans garden. They are free too which is a bonus. Hes still being fed by me, baby food and mushed up pellets just as a boost but hes seems to be perking up.
My partner has fallen in love with this little guy as he will come running out to us when we open his carrier to be fed. So Turk is now staying with us.
Ill keep you all updated with this little fighter.

A little update. Turk is doing fabulous, hes munching on a wide selection of veggies now and is eating his hay happily. Im so pleased with his progress. I took a snap of him munching on some lettuce. He seems to be holding his head correctly now so im unsure why he had a slight tilt. I will keep an eye on this as he matures. Kayleigh

I know his coat has settled down now. Hes still a fair bit underweight for his age but im working on bulking him out slowly but surely. I think hes going to remain a small pig but hes so friendly thats no problem for me. Hes such a sweetie.

Aww so glad to hear he's doing better! From what I've read though is it uncommon for a baby pig to be "fluffy" as u mentioned? Is that a health concern? Because Ollie was fluffy when I got him at two weeks old not as sleek as his cage mates

Turk was fluffy and holding himself tight as he was unwell and needed an extra boost. I think it was his bodies way of keeping warm.
