my guinea pig seems to have a hard time eating. A few weeks ago her front teeth were overgrown so i took her to the vet to get it trimmed but she still wont chew her food I took her back and they said her teeth were fine but she still having trouble eating. she seems to always have a wet chin i know she is drinking lots of water could it be her back teeth. I been cutting veggies really small and hand feeding her but i don't think she is eating enough.

I wonder if her teeth as just sensitive from the trim? It just seems like the vet would have said something if the back teeth were also overgrown.
Do you feed hay at all times?

If your worried still I would see a vet, and ask to check the back teeth to be on the safe side

if her teeth are just sensitive from having her tooth trimmed will that just go away on its own and how long will it take she just losing alot of weight so thats why i am concerned but today i saw her eating her dry pellets so maybe could it be her not like the veggies anymore

I took her to the vet today and they looked at her teeth but couldn't really see to well in the back teeth because there was food stuck in you mouth. but they said the tuque was moving good so it probley wasn't the back teeth. They don't know what is wrong with her she is weak the vet pretty much said just continue to feed her mushed up food and see what happens but she could die. I just don't know what to do there is only one other vet i know to go to but he is on vacation for 2 weeks

I'm sorry to hear about this. Did the vet mention any blood or urine tests that might be useful in figuring out what's wrong? Do you weigh her to see if she's losing a lot of weight?
Hopefully mashed pellets/food will help her pull through! I'll be crossing my fingers for you!

Best of luck with your piggy. If the tongue is moving well then hopefully the back teeth are okay. When the back teeth overgrow they often trap the tongue and stop it being able to move properly. Do your best with the feeding and hopefully things will be okay.

the vet said she was to weak to do anything to her. She is eating more now and has gained all the weight back since i notice but not sure how much or if she lost any before i noticed. So i guess that a good sign she gained weight we will she how she does in the next few days

Hows your piggie doing now? Feeding mushed up pellets is a good way to fatten them up, You could also use mulshed oats as this is a great weight gaining food for guinea pigs.

so what seems to be a tooth problem might actually be a eye problem. She had a eye poke about a month ago it didnt seem bad but with in the last 3 days its became a really bad ulcer on her eye so maybe thats whats causing her not to eat the vets not sure but I got her some eye medication now and we will see what happens. She is also starting to develop a head tilt which the same thing happened to my other guinea pig about 7 months ago
