hi, we've just gone out to see our abyssinian guinea pig (hairy). we're not sure how old he is as he was a rehouse, but was very large when we got him about a year ago. anyways, when we've gone out, his right eyeball is looking swollen and like it has a kind of hardened type film over the eyeball. i tried to take a pic but he is black with dark eyes and it didn't come out too well. i'm a bit worried about what has happened to him, it wasn't like that earlier today before work. any ideas/thoughts appreciated. thanks

Sounds like a eye infection, vet is needed, my girl had a cloudy eye 4 days of eye cream twice a day sorted it

thanks, got my partner to bring him out, as I'm allergic to guinea pigs, but have them anyways, and found that it's a bit pussy and red around the edges. he also is more subdued than usual when you bring him out for cuddles and play. will get him to the bet tomoz

Best of luck with your piggy. Eye infections usually clear up within a week when they're treated. Have a check for bits of hay stuck in there as well as they are often responsible for poorly eyes.
