Hi, My name is Ashley and i have had guinea pigs for going on two years now. I had many other animals when i was younger, out of the rodent family mainly hamsters.... i always wanted a guinea pig but never was able to get one due to space and finances. Several years later, now married my husband and i moved to Virginia Beach, Va (he's Navy). It all started when i visited the animal control in our area, i was walking up and down the rows and rows of cages looking at all the animals that had been either surrendered by their owners, or just got gotten loose and where strays that had been picked up. I came up to a little red fuzzy haired animal and was like oh my gosh, a guinea pig! The poor little thing was looking dirty and his cage looked like it hadn't been cleaned out for a while his nails where long and curled under towards his feet. I immediately looked at my husband and was said "look at him, i want to adopt him and take him away from here" and that is exactly what i did. He is a abbyssinian guinea pig. From the chart that they had on him was that he was 3.5 yrs old, and his owner had surrendered him, name was the same as mine(first name) weird huh... Now two years later i own 7 guinea pigs. 5 boars and 2 sows. I can't wait to meet everyone on here and learn more things to make my guinea pigs lifes better!!! I will get pics up as soon as i can.

Ahh thanks for the food links. Looks like an ok food. Im thinking of putting all mine back onto a pellet food as it will be cheaper for me in the long run.
Your pigs are gorgeous!!

I haven't posted on here in a very Lon while bit I have just started lurking and posting again here and there. I've lost a lot of my crew since my first intro on this forum:( Rusty passed away at 5 yrs old, Remy, Sammy, Scotty, and Nutmeg also crossed the rainbow bridge they all got an upper respiratory infection and the mess and giving them critical care food didn't not work. So I have said goodbye to them as they have crossed the rainbow bridge and we will meet again someday.
