Hi everyone, I adopted a guinea from a petstore yesterday.. In July the store said they took him to the vet for a clicking raspy sound in his chest and eye discharge. He came back from the vet and back to the petstore a few weeks ago. He apparently has chronic pneumonia or chronic bronchitis (i'm not sure). His eyes are clear, eats well, but still has that clicking noise and is a little underweight. Do you think he still has something? Any suggestions? Thanks!

He sounds a bit like one of my piggies who has a sort of piggy asthma. He's allergic to certain brands of hay and gets that crackly chest thing once in a while. It goes away after a few days.
You could take him to the vet as a precaution and get him a course of baytril just for peace of mind.
In the mean time then you could see is there anything in particular that seems to set him off.

My guinea pig has been diagnosed with pneumonia today..she is on strong antibiotics and has to go back in two weeks time. For some time she was rocking with her breathing and she had a xray on her chest today which showed the problem. She also has a clicky sound but bright eyed and eating the same but def has lost weight.I would take your piggy to a vet who has experience with Guinea pigs to double check it is clear as i know it can still be lingering.I hope your piggy gets better soon:)

Hello, Sorry to hear about your piggie. I recently have racked up a four hundred dollar bill since August with my little pigger. We bought, or should I say rescued, her from Petsmart. When we bought her she had pneumonia. She was treated with a round of antibiotics only to get it back again two weeks later. The vet treated her with another road for 7 days and then an extremely strong antibiotic that we had to wear rubber gloves when we gave it to her, not to mention that I couldn't let my kids get near her while she was on it. A week later the nasal congestion came back. We had her tested and her lungs were actually clear. Turns out that she has allergies. Go figure. We give her Aller-Chlor (chlorpheniramine) twice a day and we can not give her Timothy Hay as this is what she is extremely allergic to. We had to switch her hay to Orchard Grass and Oat Hay. She has completely recovered, but still gets stuffy ever now and then, but she is back to popcorning and enjoying life. She is rather tiny and according to the vet will not get much bigger because of all the illnesses she experienced, which is okay with me as we love her regardless. So I typed all that to say this, check with you vet and see if she might have allergies. Switch her hay to Oat Hay and Orchard Grass. We give our little Beans .07 cc's of Aller-Chlor, but check with your vet for the proper dosage for your piggies weight.
