First off I was wondering if keeping my window slightly open at night could give him a cold of some sort. I live close to the ocean, but his cage is to the right of the window,so he won't feel any drafts. Also if he is sick then why aren't his cagemates sick? ._. I just used up the last of my money for rental I'm unable to take him to the vet right now. He was fine a week ago which makes me think he was hiding it or he caught a cold. So I first thought he was sick when I saw his breathing was quicker and he was much less active than what he normally is. So I looked at him and he has some crusty stiff around his eyes and dried up mucous around his nose. No coughing or sneezing though. The weird thing is is that I haven't seen him eat pellets or drink any water. All he will eat is hay and the occassional fruit or veggie. He's been hiding in the house while everyone else is out and about. And whenever I try to pick him up he sqeals. :/ And I haven't seen him poop today, but maybe he did and I didn't see it. So I was wondering if giving him Critcal Care would help until I make his appointment? And any ideas on what it could be? I thought it was a cold,so I've been giving him the cold medicine I got from the vet a few weeks ago when I got Tidus and Wakka checked out,but I'm not sure it is a cold, since he doesn't seem to be getting any better. Maybe a respiratory infection?

Well I gave him some critical care. He didn't seem to mind, but after awhile he didn't want anymore,so hopefully it'll help.

It sounds like it could be a URI which would need vet treatment asap. For the time being keep a close eye on him, keep him warm and dry. Ensure he keeps eating, drinking.

Well I have some good news >.< So I've kept my window closed and the heater on(even though it's not that cold). Then I cleaned out his cage even though it wasn't too dirty. And today I saw him drinking water! And when I picked him up his voice was much clearer than before. Plus his nose is dry. Idk if he's pooping though. He's still only eating hay from what I've seen, but I'm really glad he drank water today. I'm hoping he continues to improve

You definitely want to get him to the vet ASAP. URIs can get serious very quickly, and I don't want you to lose your little piggie!

Yes well I used the last of my $ on rent as he was fine a week ago. And so I thought I could ask my bf's aunt to take us to the vet,but she refused stating "The vet costs a lot of money" as she was shopping at Macy's. So pretty much my bf and I are pissed at the lack of compassion from her even though we said we'd pay her back. If he can make it for a little while longer then I'll have the $ to take him. Hopefully she will at least give us a ride to the vet since we don't want him to go through being on the loud bus and us having to walk there in cold weather. So we have our fingers crossed hoping he can be strong a little while longer.

Frodo passed away about 3 minutes ago. I had just given him his medicine too. $160 just for him to die 15min after leaving. The vet said she thought he wasn't gonna make it through the night, but I hoped and prayed he would....but he didn't. Maybe he got stressed at the vet from being given injections. They put him on oxygen, but they said even then his breathing was labored.

They said they thought it was pneumonia or heart disease, but that it was highly unlikely of it being heart disease,so it was more than likely pneumonia. The only positive thing I can think from this is that god forbid if another piggy catches pneumonia than at least I have the medicine already instead of spending another $160 just for my pet to die after I leave the vet. This happened when I brought my chinchilla to the vet also. He died right after I left. I don't know why this happens with me & vets, but a part if me wishes I had just kept him home and he at least could've died without any stress instead of taking him to the vet just for him to get stressed out and die quicker, but I mean the vet even said she thought he wasn't going to make it through the night, but we insisted we wanted to try the antibiotics and critical care and that he would make it,but if I had known he was going to die as soon as I took him home and gave him medicine I probably would've just said no to the injection and antibiotics and just took him home stress free. At least he's in a better place now,but I miss him a lot. The cage looks like it's missing someone, but I did all I could do to help him and it just wasn't enough or it was too late. Either way he's gone now and we miss him very very much. Our little Frododo R.I.P. you were my second favorite after Gandalf(who also passed away) I think I should stop picking favorites. All my favorites die. :/
