Hi, after reading some posts on pet shops saying that their piggies were girls and then finding out otherwise later, it has made me panic a bit and i would like some help sexing my 11 week olds. Pet shop said they were definately girls but its hard to tell when they were only 8 weeks then isn't it?! Smudge is starting to get chubby and i'm panicking in case it's not just cause she's busy scoffing her food!! But is she too young anyway to get pregnant?? Anyway i've tried pressing and nothing coming out, but they do look different slightly. Let me know what you think. I'm praying they're both girls as we've fallen in love and don't want to be taking them back!!

Yep two sows there. Guinea pigs can be sexed from hours old. They must be sexed by 3 weeks old so boars can be removed. So by 8 weeks old if a pet shop or vet cannot sex them. Thats very worrying.
Sows can get pregnant from 5 - 6 weeks of age sometimes younger. Although rare. It can and has happened.
