No guinea pigs do not need to be wormed regular like dogs/cats ect. As for lice, mites ect its best to treat if and when they ever get the little beasties.
Its best to use a spot on treatment which is widely available in pet stores for mite treatment, Beaphar products work best for a small amount of pigs.
Ivermectin is whats used to treat this, so anything with this in it should kill off mites.
Hope that helps

I've read a few guinea pig books that have mentioned worming and I just can't understand why. There's no need for it and most vets wouldn't even know how to dose them for it.
As Kayleigh says, ivermectin does the job. It's a very simple and non-invasive treatment that won't upset your piggies, but there should be no need to do it unless you see symptoms. I know a few breeders with large numbers of pigs do it routinely to prevent outbreaks, but when you only keep them as pets or don't have about 40 of them, it's not necessary.

There shouldnt be any need to treat him. If hes coming from a breeder than im sure they would keep their pigs mites free ect.
