Woke up this morning and me and my wife noticed 3 beautiful little pups, all are or seem to be very healthy. My daughters are so excited and can't stop watching out for them, they are concerned that Charlotte will hurt them by lying on them and such, I keep telling them that she knows how to take care of them, it's in her nature. And of course they want to keep all of them, one seems to be more fluffier all over than the other two but both the parents are short hair. Rachelle put Dillon in the cage to see what he would do and he had more interest in Charlotte, didn't let him do anything, he did smell one but Charlotte got a little upset and kind of got between him and the pup. The girls already have them named and picked out which ones they want, the kid can't get over the babies and even my wife is a little excited.

congratulations!! I would strongly advise keeping the boar away from the sow and her pups. if any of them are boars they can live with their dad at 3 weeks old.
Glad everything went well.

Charlotte and Dillon will not be together at all, everyone was concerned that Dillon should see his babies so we put him into the cage for a few seconds and after nosing around he was in the process of getting on top of Charlotte and I got him immediately before he got on top. I want a digital camera so as I can take some good photo's, my wife has taken some with her cell phone if I can get her to send them to me then I will put them on the site. Kids just got home from school and immediately went into there room to see the guinea pigs, the babies are doing great and getting around great. My daughter wanted me to ask since the curly one seems to be left out is it O.K., we keep telling her that they take turns and she is only able to feed two at a time. The curly one is the runt and seems to be doing fine, the kids always want to hold them but I won't allow them to hold one for more than just a minute or so since they are only close to 12 hours old. Charlotte temperment is alot better and is a very good mother, I was concerned whether she would abandon or nurse them.

Oh how fantastic!!! Congratulations!!! It's amazing isn't it!! i loved watching mine suckling from their mum and they all seemed to get a turn, although you always get a greedy one who pushes in more! She should be able to manage quite well with 3 but just keep an eye to make sure they all get some! You'll be surprised that on day 2 my babies were starting to nibble at pellets!!! Enjoy every moment

We'll yesterday I cleaned out the whole cage and everything went great, the bird cage tray that fits perfectly in the guinea pig cage is working great for Charlotte and the pups. It is plastic/white and somewhat slippery but they don't seem to have any problem with walking on it, so far they are pooping on this---I also keep the food bowel on this and the hay is above so they can eat, + the water bottle is over this incase it drips, so it is working out fantastic and the cage is keeping clean, especially the fleece. This morning my daughters got upset at me cause they want to keep them all and I told them no! I'm pretty sure we will not be able to keep them all and I should have expected this, I'm just glad we didn't have 7 or 8 pups then I'd be in alot more trouble with them. Pups are doing great, they are nibbling on the alfalfa hay at times and follow mama everywhere she goes. Quick question to not be gross but does the mother eat the babies poop?, I've noticed that she will clean back there and I haven't seen much or any pup poop.

I didn't see any from my babies for a few days so assumed that mum was cleaning them and then you start to see the tiniest cutest poops in cage! Can't believe i'm calling poops cute!!! So yes don't worry if you're not seeing any yet! It was more when my babies started to nibble on the pellets and start eating bits of veg that i started noticing them doing poops.

Yep the mother will usually eat the faeces, but there should be some about. If your at all worried about the runt you can hand feed them a little extra. You can use evap milk with water and soak it in bread, the pups should sook off it.
Also make sure they can all reach the water bottle as this is a good thing for them also.
Well done and they sound like they are doing great. Make sure they have plenty of veg too, parsley, spring greens, spinach and kale are great to growing pups and the sow.
A picture would be lovely when you can get one.
